Why is blood agar useful as a primary isolation medium?

Microbiology related question. Why is blood agar useful as a primary isolation medium?
It supports the growth of just about any bacteria. It is nonselective and is used for primary isolation purposes for aerobic and anaerobic cultures in our laboratory. It is often used along with chocolate agar and macconkeys agars as the first step in identifying types of bacteria. Why is blood agar useful as a primary isolation medium?
it cultivates fastidious organisms like streptococci...it demonstrates hemolytic properties of microorganisms.
