Bodybuilding question isolation vs compound movements?

They say that compound movements are best for size and strength yet isolation movements are used for weak point training!

You use more weight in compound movements but its spread over many different muscles where as an isolation movement has less weight but its concentrated on the specific muscle!

My question is if say you just wanted to build a big strong CHEST and HAD to choose either isolation or compound movements would you be better off using dumbbell flies and the Peck deck or the dumbbell and Barbell bench press and why?

Thanks in advance!Bodybuilding question isolation vs compound movements?
Muscles grow from moving weight. You can move much more weight doing compound movements. I have been a competitive bodybuilder for 19 years and I still train with compound movements. I am going to unlock the key to getting a big strong chest.. do squats.. yes.. squats. (along with bench, cleans, deadlifts, military press, bent over rows and pullups)Bodybuilding question isolation vs compound movements?
Peck deck for the chest.

Consider the muscle as a tissue, as you put pressure on the muscle the tissue rips and to repair itself its grows back but doubles in size, it puts a new layer of tissue over the part what was there before, so hense your muscle grows.

Now that you know how the muscle works you will be ale to use this knowlage to your advantage,

you will now find it much easier.
