Other books with isolation as a theme?

My novel study is on frankenstein and I need to read another book to compare. My theme is isolation. Any help appreciated in choosing another book!

Thanks.Other books with isolation as a theme?
Good options might be The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevensen, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (think about the woman stuck in the attic), or Walden by Henry David Thoreau. Because of it's themes of the ';monster within,'; Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde might be a good one to compare. (And it's pretty short as an added bonus!) Enjoy!Other books with isolation as a theme?
Good choice! Frankenstein is an awesome book.

Try Silas Marner by George Eliot. It's about a man, Silas Marner, who is engaged at one point and has a career going for him, and ends up being stabbed in the back by his best friend (who marries his woman) and losing everything. He becomes a lonely hermit, is generally shunned by society, and becomes obsessed with money. He ends up adopting a little girl when he finds the girl's mother dead in the forest. It could be an interesting one to compare to Frankenstein.

It's also from the same time period as Frankenstein (the 1800s), so if you are supposed to be comparing two books from similar time periods, this one would work fabulously.
I don't know if this what you're looking for, but i guess you could try the gate keepers series, especialy 1 %26amp;3. I'll just explain #1. Its about a kid whos been raised by his neglective aunt and her abusive boyfriend. He winds up in some trouble, and is sent to live with an old lady. He finds out its a coven of witches, and that he has powers he cant control. He is isolated through the book, but sorry if its not what your looking for.
