My guess is that would be Ms. Georgia O'Keeffe.
Edward Hopper did focus on light and it's effects, too, but Hopper was never an isolated loner like O'Keeffe. This could actually be a tricky question to those who don't know the background of the artists.
Jackson Pollock spent two years pretty much isolated in The Springs on Long Island, but his wife was always there and so were the town people and he really didn't focus on light and it's effects. And I know the answer isn't Frank Stella. Adolph Gottlieb did live in the Arozina desert for two years but spent most of his life in New York and had a large group of artist friends.
Yep, the answer is O'Keeffe because she spent the last 60 years of her life as a hermit-type artist living on her 'Ghost' ranch near Taos, New Mexico.Who pursued a theme of human isolation and loneliness, along with a strong interest in light and its effects?
d. Hopper, Dennis
Straight off the take-home quiz, eh?
My guess is Hopper.
