Sleeping pill/sedative most commonly used in hospitals/ isolation if virus?

If a patient is acting erratic, are sedatives or sleeping-aids most likely to be administered, and what is it called? Also, if a patient has a virus or some illness that cannot be clearly diagnosed and may be possibly contagious, would they isolate, as in quarantine, or where? Thank you.Sleeping pill/sedative most commonly used in hospitals/ isolation if virus?
What do you mean by erratic? If the patient is creating a disturbance then there is a pretty good chance the doctor will order something like ativan or valium.

A patient will probably not initially be placed in isolation unless there is a very good chance they might have a highly contagious disease like TB or meningitis.
