Sites like MySpace, Friendster, etc. seem like they are good for communication and interacting with others, but is the feeling of community illusory? Are we sacrificing genuine human interaction by participating in those virtual communities? Or are the human bonds created on those sites genuinely healthy and satisfying?Do online Internet communities bring people closer, or do they lead to further isolation?
I believe internet communities allude to closeness. The interaction comes from a virtual reality and not a physical reality. It allows individuals to close themselves off, only allowing certain aspects of themselves to be shown.
Internet communities can be helpful for families that live a great distance, or for indidivuals who telecommute. However, thousand of individuals become entranced to these communities-cutting off all physical reality.Do online Internet communities bring people closer, or do they lead to further isolation?
Um Ok.
