What do we call the period of isolation that took place after the fall of the roman empire?

any one i need to knowWhat do we call the period of isolation that took place after the fall of the roman empire?
';The Dark Ages';.

However... There is an emerging philosophy that refers to that period as ';The Atomization of Europe';.

Stated as such because ';The Dark Ages'; were actually periods of prosperity in other parts of the world. NOT a period when much knowledge was lost... Which really only happened in Europe. What do we call the period of isolation that took place after the fall of the roman empire?
The dark ages.
well, it depends on which part of the Roman Empire you are talking about. The fall of the Roman Empire with Rome (western) happened in 476 AD and most likely would have been the start of the Dark Ages and the fall of Roman Empire with Constatinople (eastern) in 1453 started the Middle Ages
